Kristen Anne Bell (born 1980) is an American actor and singer. She is an Michigan native, born and fostered by her parents, Lorelei Frygier (a nurse) and Tom Bell (a TV news director). Her heritage includes Polish (mother) and German, English, Irish as well as Scottish (father). Kristen discovered her talents in the world of entertainment when she was just a teenager. In 1992, she went to her first audition. She was successful and got an appearance in Raggedy Ann and Andy. Bell aged 13 when her mom signed to become an agent was also auditioned for ads on newspapers and TV. At this time Bell also started classes in acting. Bell played an uncredited part on Polish Wedding (1998), an upcoming film. Bell attended Shrine Catholic High School, which was where she participated in both the music and drama club. The Wizard of Oz was performed by her high school and she took home the role of Dorothy. Bell studied music theatre in the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts in New York City after graduating. Bell left the school in 2001, when she took the role of Becky for Tom Sawyer. In the same year, she made her first credited debut with Pootie Tang (2001), however her character was deleted and her appearance exists only in the credits sequence. Bell was on Broadway on Broadway in The Crucible, a revival that featured Liam Neeson with Angela Bettis.
