Belknap's home was Damariscotta in Maine. She is the child of David Belknap along with Louise Belknap. She studied at Lincoln Academy, Newcastle Maine. It was her passion to act when she was in Middlebury College Vermont. The American Conservatory Theater awarded her an MA in Fine Arts.
