Awkwafina An American performer and actress, started with humorous rap tracks dealing with issues related to sexuality and race. Her career expanded to Hollywood following the release of a series of raps. Nora Lum began her musical career as a musician on the trumpet. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the daughter of Chinese immigrants as well as Korean immigrants. In addition to classical and jazz, she started to study hip-hop during her teens. In her studies, she studied journalism as well as women's studies in college even learning Mandarin in Beijing for a time. Her focus shifted to music only after she graduated. Her 2012 track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success across the Internet and was later released on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album also contained viral hits including body-positive Queef and winking tour of her home NYC BitcheUSD. The latter track was linked to Awkwafina's NYC, a 2015 travel guide. A musician and author was on her resume she set her sights on acting in a third project. Aside from early TV shows such as Girl Code and Tawk, she's also appeared in films like Neighbors2Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed many breakthrough roles, such as Dude Ocean's 8 or Crazy Rich Asians. In June she released In Fina We Trust.
